BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/
-- In the wake of new U.S.
government guidelines recommending people at risk for heart attack or stroke
to lower their "bad" cholesterol levels even further than was previously
suggested, Natural Bionics, a national nutritional firm, announced today that
it is adding the Vita Bar to its line of products. Actor Lee Majors will
serve as spokesman. It is one of the world's first health bars aimed at
battling high cholesterol.
Majors, known to millions as "The Bionic Man," will be actively involved
in the promotion of the Vita Bar. The FDA has determined that whole oat bran,
as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, can reduce the risk of
heart disease. The notoriously rigid FDA regulations only allow products to
make cholesterol claims under very strict circumstances, and Vita Bar is one
of the few bars on the market that can make such a claim.
Majors says, "I'm pleased that I'm in a position to help people who have a
cholesterol problem. Not only are these bars delicious, but I really believe
that they might be a life-saver for many." The still active actor says he
feels better than he has in decades, and attributes much of this to his diet.
Vita Bar is the fifth product in the Natural Bionics line of nutritional
products, which also includes Healthy Bone and Joint Formula Capsules, Healthy
Bone and Joint Topical Gel, ProstaTex and EstroTex. More information on the
Vita Bar and the Natural Bionics line can be found at
Natural Bionics or by calling 800-780-8063.
Note:
On July 13, 2004, the government-funded National Cholesterol Education
Program offered new guidelines for people at risk for heart attack or stroke.
"Bad" cholesterol levels should now be lowered to below 70 milligrams per
deciliter, replacing 100 milligrams as the threshold number.
